However; in today s society science has expanded into new territories trying to achieve human perfection, by using technology to create what they think a perfect baby should be. Genetic Engineering or known to the public as designer babies is a term used to describe the use of technology to modify embryos and choose specific traits that parents want for their newborn. Using this new advance in science should bring concern amongst the people; as efforts to create human perfection can lead to recreating the same ideals and standards of Hitler’s principles of perfect†¦show more content†¦In addition, this process costs thousands of dollars that arrange between 2,000 thousand to 30,000 thousand dollars depending on what is being changed on the embryo. This method as expensive as it is can only be afforded by rich peo ple and not poor people leading to a new kind of race. Another big disadvantage of designer babies is that people do not know how risky it is to modify their genes and might end up being born with defects because , the technology is so new, that it is unknown whether the embryo will be affected and their gene pool altered in the future .Designer babies should not be allowed because: it’s not ethical, it’s too expensive and the technology for designer babies is so new that it has not been perfected yet and may have long term effects that are still unknown .
